Yesterday, we also tried out Vielharmonie on the Pontstrasse (the Namesake recommended me to go there) and I really liked the atmosphere there, although the waiters were a bit blunt and looked like Neanderthals ;) And yes, I completely agree on Brussels and also I like Antwerp a lot more; if I remember correctly the city centre is a lot bigger and has more historical buildings than the one in Brussel. I've been there a couple of times myself. It's by far not the most beautiful or cozy town I have been in - it's full of gloomy buildings and desolate blocks - but in a way it's still appealing. If you haven't been to Antwerp yet, I recommend you to go there sometime. Also, I know the five story bookshop in Aachen as well. Although the vast majority of books is written in German, there's also a small section of English and Dutch literature. Have you tried the Chill Out Corner yet? Nice trip to Brussels.
