Italy here we come

Rob just called me up with great news; I e-mailed him this afternoon telling him I took a holiday from the 1st till the 12th of October, and luckily he was also able to get those weeks off. Now, Rob, my brother and I will finally start planning our trip to Italy. Already flight prices are promising and probably we can fly from Eindhoven airport, which makes everything quite easy.

How I love to get back to Italy, the times I’ve been there the country was stealing more and more of my heart and now we’re planning to go to Rome and Florence at least. I’m really looking forward to seeing Florence again and would really like to see more of Rome than was possible in my last, one hour, visit (in which I only had chance to see the Colloseum). Also, I hope we have the chance to see more than those two cities alone. My Italian friends in MACE have already gave me a lot of tips, half of which I already forgot again (sorry!), and I hope I have the opportunity to take at least a couple of those tips into account. Maybe I even ask them for some more.

I also hope we have the opportunity to visit Siena and Arrezzo again and I’m really interested in visiting Pompei and Herculanum, but I’m not really sure it would be possible. Anyway, my great curiosity in Roman history will certainly be satisfied in Rome, but it would really be great to see these two ancient cities, so well preserved by that enormous disaster so long ago. Suffice it to say, I’m getting more and more enthousiastic and hope everything will turn out allright in visiting Italy this year. Maybe I even can learn some Italian before I go there. Certainly…to be continued…
